The scarab is a sacred symbol in ancient Egypt. It commemorates an important event of the reign.
In ancient Egypt, the scarab beetle represents the god Khepri, symbol of the rebirth of the Sun. The spherical ball that the sacred dung beetle rolls to its burrow was associated by the ancient Egyptians with the course of the sun and, by extension, with cosmic cycles. The scarab beetle therefore embodies the personification of the creator god, which led to the development of the figure of the god Khepri during the Old Kingdom. Objects in the shape of scarabs appear from the 6th dynasty. From the 18th dynasty, they can also bear inscriptions calling for good fortune.
